Concerned Grandmother awarded primary custody due to mother’s drug use

Mr. Caulder successfully obtained primary custody for the grandmother of a nine-month-old child after the child's mother overdosed on fentanyl with the child in her care. After meticulously gathering evidence and obtaining a court-ordered drug test of the mother, Mr. Caulder convincingly presented the evidence at trial and showed that the mother was exposing the child to substantial risk of injury through her drug usage. Evidence was also presented that the father had little to no involvement with the minor child since the child was born. Following the trial, the judge awarded primary custody to Mr. Caulder's client, only allowing supervised visitation for the child's mother.
